No-one can say why, or how, but in the distant Asgami Mountains, a hole in reality itself has opened. From a distance, the hole can be seen like a bubble, the colours within altered strangely, and a harsh actinic glare emanating from its visible boundary. Within the reality hole can be seen a bright blazing light, like a second sun.
Travelers have spoken of creatures crawling from the boundaries of the hole- twisted and corrupted figures resembling wild animals and people known to have lived in the area, but mutated and hating all life around them. Although they are emerging only singly at the current moment, they are quite dangerous. How you can use the Reality Hole in your game: - Your Player Characters might have to battle a monster, or perhaps even some group them which have emerged. Venturing into the Reality Hole reveals that it is some kind of spherical Gate into another realm- one inhabited by endless waves of these monsters, lining the horizons, and only their lack of organization, and not having knowledge of the Hole, currently saves the nearby area from being completely overrun by tens of thousands of them. Warning others, fighting off a desperate siege, and then venturing forth again to find some way to close the Hole, could make up a whole campaign arc. - Some object or person that the PCs are after might be within the Asgami Mountains, and might have to go in search of them through the Hole, braving not just waves of twisted monsters, but even more horrifying things- titans the size of mountains stalking across the plains on legs miles high, soaring serpents of glowing incorporeal energy, and seas of sentient goo that howl as the waves crash. Whether their contact still exists, and whether they're still recognizable, are entirely questionable. Also posted on Game Masters Stash on 1 August 2019. Comments are closed.
